Wood Chip to Silicon Chip is Nick’s big debut. Nick is an entrepreneur, author and professional forestry consultant with extensive experience in people management and web based technology. He believes that by harnessing technology today, by making it fun and simple, it will enable us to grow strong and secure our futures in sustainable forestry practices.

Nick calls Australia home, where his passion for Forestry began. Previously from the South Island of New Zealand where his career kicked off in the Agriculture industry, he then turned from a hands on approach in Forestry to technical web based technologies and writing. The best part: He looks forward to traveling the World with his business and book, promoting and connecting people, providing them with new opportunities and a platform to further themselves and their businesses

About Nick

Nick’s expertise and knowledge ranges from 15 years in the Agriculture sector and 9 years in the Forestry Industry. He was born and raised in New Zealand’s South Island on a farm an hour’s drive from Christchurch. After attending Medbury Prepatory School from 1988 – 1989, he spent the next 5 years in boarding school at St Andrews College in Christchurch. In 1996 he then attended Lincoln University in Canterbury, where he studied Farm Management. The following 3 years were spent travelling and working in UK, Europe and Africa. Upon return to NZ in 2000 he started up a fencing contracting business supplying Farmers and lifestyle block owners with high quality fencing services.

From 2003-2005 he managed an intensive cattle and sheep finishing property for Seafield Enterprises Ltd at the foot of the Southern Alps in the Canterbury foothills. In 2005 Nick then engaged in Forestry Sub-Contracting in Southern Australia, mainly large scale MIS establishment for Great Southern Pty Ltd. Areas in Australia included Tasmania, Victoria & South Australia.

In 2007 Rencon Forestry was formed and services were extended to Inventory, pruning and spraying. Areas of locality were extended to Queensland and Western Australia. After the demise of the MIS schemes in 2009 he turned to other companies to provide contractual work to. In October 2012 Forestech Management was formed with the inclusion of Nigel Miller as co-director.

In March 2012 ForestryConnect was launched, a directory based website for the Forestry Industry. A year in the making, it was finally released at Austimber2012 in Mt Gambier. The idea formed from his frustrations of not being able to find on-line resources as a contractor in the industry. Between 2011-2012 Nick engaged in the KPI (Key Person of Influence) brand accelerator Programme, which through its mentoring and networks has helped his businesses increase sales and profiles on a large scale.
